43- Drafter

In response to this journal (Which of my Rayian characters should I draw?) asked me to update and redraw Drafter.  No problemo ;D

Drafter was originally created to be Rayman's father.  I'm not sure whether I'm going to keep that plot detail intact and make it an AU or stick to canon and just keep Drafter as the guardian and warrior trainer in his tribe.  Either way he hasn't changed much from when I originally designed him.

Drafter is the strongest warrior of his tribe.  While not blessed with magical abilities he has the rare skill to tap into the magical flow of the world around him, allowing him to boost skills he already knows.  As a result he's a skilled hand to hand fighter, deftly nimble and a dead eyed marksman with his signature crossbow gauntlet.  He cannot tap into full magical streams though, and in areas of high magical concentration he will pass out from over stimulation if he tried to boost his powers.  Alternately he cannot use magic to boost his abilities in areas without magic, but he will still have his original level of skill.  He is still very much mortal though and at risk from injury even with magical boost to protect him.

Because of his powers he works training other young warriors in the art of combat.  Despite the fact his students often have great magical ability he can hold his own against them on his own turf and train them in more physical and mental forms of fighting.  Drafter is a stern teacher who works his students hard to bring out their best.  He has little time for social interactions outside his family and closest friends.  He can come off as cold and dismissive, but he values compassion and is sworn to protect the weak.  He knows he has to be cold and detached to take on evil to protect the pure hearted.  Unfortunately Drafter's chilly demeanour discourage most from being around him socially.

Thankfully this does not include his beloved wife Rosemary.  The pair are so diametrically opposite in temperament and personality and yet the love they share is boundless and understood only by them.  It's fair to say that Rose is always forefront in Drafter's mind, as she is the standard to which all others are held to.  

Drafter's hobbies and preferences are somewhat of a mystery.  He enjoys archery and training, and it is believed he has a fondness for spicy food.  The hotter the better.  While he does not share his wife's love for plants he is content to tend to a plum tree that grows near his mountain lodge.  He can sometimes be found under it meditating or reading a book, and some claim to have seen him speak to it.
