Welcome Home Dinky

Pony arts!

This little idea popped into my head after I saw this totally adorable image:


For those who aren't into the whole brony following, this comic features two characters from the new My Little Pony Friendship is Magic cartoon, Ditzy-Doo (affectionately renamed 'Derpy Hooves' by the fans) and her 'daughter' Dinky-Doo

Going back to the original image that inspired this, Derpy manages to hurt herself and thus can't perform her role as Ponyville's resident mail-pony. So Dinky, being the faithful mothers-little-helper that she is, takes on the satchel and offers to run her mom's route instead.

I'm not really into writing much fanfiction pony-wise, but the basic story of my image is thus.......

While being keen and eager to help her mother, little Dinky-Doo has no idea what she's getting herself into. Despite her mom's warnings the little unicorn strides out; I mean how hard can delivering some letters be?

Dinky has to learn the hard way that mail delivery is not for the faint of heart, and the quote 'Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night' has never been more appropriate. On top of not having wings like her mother, the filly has had to trawl along muddy roads, climb hills, steps and fences, scramble through fields and dodge, argue with and sometimes even outrun various things that get in the way of her mission. And on top of all that, she got rained on pretty bad. As a result that one round took her the best part of a day. Not to mention that some of her clients weren't too happy about their post being crumpled, wet and very late.

So little Dinky returns home, bedraggled, muddy and disheartened to face her mother.

But Derpy...being Derpy...has nothing but love and admiration for her dutiful little filly. Despite still sporting bandages she's cooked up a super batch of muffins just for Dinky, one even topped with a sugar 'D'.

Before long Dinky is warm and snug by the fire, bundled up in cosy blankets, hot drink and baked treat on hand and getting pony-snuggles from her proud mum. All the hardships of the day are forgotten and Dinky couldn't be happier.
