In the beginning...there was just pencil, pen and cheap colouring pencils...and lo...a character was created by a rayman fangirl who thought there needed to be more pirate girls in the fandom....and lo...

I can't keep this narration up XD

I admit i was completely inspired by `delya's series of pictures showing the progression of her characters (Nex, Oz and A$$trobe)...but also way back when i last updated Sammy's design for a wallpaper i was intending to include pics of her previous forms...but i took them out because they looked out of place.

But this gives an excuse to dig out all those old pictures i know and love, and i hope you like them too!

This doesn't so much show Sam's character development as my change in art style/skill. Some overriding facts are clear from the pics:

1) Sammy has always had blonde hair
2) She's always had the pannel missing from her face (she doesn't want it covered, she thinks of it as a part of her individuality
3) She's ALMOST always had those red gems on her hands

i guess when you like something about a character you just don't want to change them

About Sammy:

Sammy was originally created in 2000/01 back when i was an uber huge fan of Rayman 2 and just starting to introduce my fancharacters to the intarwebs. Sam, or Zero Clenzer 44TR S4M as she is otherwise known as, was originally designed as a female robo pirate but gradually evolved into a missplaced experimental model of domestic robot from the ZERO Corporation

Sam in short is a failed experiment...or at least she was considered to be. The concept was to place a human's soul into the body of a robot giving it better free will and human emotions, making them more emotive and able to act without commands. But instead of being bound by her programming Sammy was far too happy and outgoing to be a slave to anyone, thus she was packed up and shipped off to be destroyed.

Thankfully the container she was being transported in was washed overboard and ended up on Rayman's home island, where it was found by the limbless hero and his companion Cookie (of rayman TV series fame!). Originally Rayman wanted to destroy the robot, but Cookie managed to convince him that it was worth investigating. So back to Cookie's house they went where they tried to boot up the strange girl (using the enclosed instruction book)...and shazam, the robot girl lived! And like all good anime steriotypes she fell head over heels for the guy who brought her back to life, namely Cookie, and vowed to protect him and serve him in any way she could (yes there was still a little bit of her robot programming in that synthetic brain of hers)

So now, having proven herself as a fellow lover of peace, Sammy (christened as such by Cookie due to her type-name) is now regarded as a fellow islander. When not taking care of Cookie (what with his mellowdramtics and paranoias about EVERYTHING) she helps out Uglette to take care of their hundreds of baby Globoxes She also works as a teacher to the island children...and she loves her jobs

As well as being strong and not needing to eat or sleep (she recharges herself from the sun...or a handy wall socket if the sun isn't around), Sam can be a dangerous weapons to go up against. When those she loves are threatened she uses those jewels on her hands to blast lazer beams that can stun or destroy her enemies. She has all the basic skills of cooking, cleaning, childcare and general household maintenance, but is slowly being taught new skills by other islanders....oh and she has a computerised memory and can act as a large personal organiser Her love and devotion for Cookie goes way beyond her programming...and probably has something to do with her human soul...

Sammy is in no way perfect, she can be very clingy and overly cheerful. She doesn't understand sarcasm very well and gets confused by some sayings and euphamisms. Plus she has all the issues any computer would have (overheating, crashing, blue-screening etc), but her natural joy at life means she's always supported by her friends. However there is the nagging problem of ZERO corp, who have suddenly realised Sam's potential and want their property back....



....is there anything left for me to write? oh, eventually she and Cookie have (or at least, build) a daughter, a little robotic girl called Rita who is a mixture of Sam's robotics and Cookies DNA. Updated pics of her comming soon...maybe o_o
